SYPNOPSIS
The Antarctic Peninsula has warmed as much as, if not more than, anywhere else on Earth. As a result the region has much less sea ice than it used to. The climate is warmer and wetter. One notable impact has been a rapid decline Adélie penguin colonies. I spent 5 weeks reporting on research at Palmer Station, the smallest permanent U.S. base in Antarctica.
